About Dr. Ghanem
Founder, Premier Head and Neck Surgery
Dr. Ghanem is a highly experienced ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) and facial plastic surgeon, double board-certified in Head and Neck Surgery as well as Otolaryngology. He specializes in head and neck cancer surgery, microvascular reconstruction, and facial plastic and reconstructive procedures. His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of services, including general ENT surgeries, complex head and neck oncologic operations, advanced free flap microvascular reconstruction, and facial cosmetic enhancements.
Dr. Ghanem earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Utah in 1993. He then pursued graduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at the same institution, completing both his Ph.D. and M.D. degrees in 2002. He continued his medical training with a General Surgery Internship in 2003, followed by a residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Virginia, which he completed in 2007. He further honed his skills by completing a fellowship in microvascular reconstructive surgery at Oregon Health & Science University in 2008.
In 2008, Dr. Ghanem joined the Henry Ford Medical Group, where he founded the Head and Neck Cancer Division in 2009. Since then, he has been at the forefront of surgical innovation and multidisciplinary care in the treatment of head and neck cancers, earning recognition for his contributions to patient care, education, and research in the field. As the founder of Premier Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Ghanem continues to lead a dedicated team focused on providing exceptional care and pioneering advancements in the field.
Ellen Stair
Ellen Stair, a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based healthcare. My commitment lies in providing high-quality care to patients facing a diverse array of conditions, including sinus issues, ear, nose, and throat concerns, as well as head and neck cancers, reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic needs.
I earned my Physician Assistant degree from AdventHealth University and have had the privilege of collaborating with Dr. Ghanem in both clinical and surgical environments. My role combines comprehensive medical care with procedural skills, enabling me to guide patients through every phase of their treatment journey—whether it involves managing chronic ENT conditions, assisting in the operating room, or helping patients reach their aesthetic goals.
I prioritize open communication, patient education, and a collaborative approach to care, ensuring that each patient feels informed, supported, and confident in the treatment they receive.
Outside of my professional life, I love spending quality time with my family and staying active.
Rocio “Ro” Patton, MA, CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Rocio “Ro” Patton is a bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist (Spanish/English) with over 15 years of experience serving individuals of all ages. In the past decade, she has concentrated on the adult and geriatric populations, specializing in the assessment and treatment of neurological conditions. Ro has a wealth of expertise in dysphagia, aphasia, and dementia, and is dedicated to helping patients enhance their communication and swallowing abilities to improve their quality of life.
Beyond her clinical experience, Ro has previously worked as a university instructor in her home country and has made significant contributions to the field through two thesis projects and a published book. She holds a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Eastern Michigan University and currently collaborates with several local hospitals. Ro is enthusiastic about bringing her knowledge and compassionate care to the team at Premier Head and Neck Surgery.
